Vice President of India, Mr. Jagdeep Dhankhar, addressed the 2022-batch trainees of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and urged them to be innovative and think out of the box while serving the nation and neutralize attempts of sinister forces with dangerous designs that want to tarnish India’s constitutional democracy.

Mr. Dhankhar said that as foot soldiers, they will be brand ambassadors of the country.

He also said that the people of the country are looking towards them for what India would be like in 2047. There is no doubt that as the Warriors of 2047, the officers are fully capable and capable of living up to people’s expectations.

Addressing the OTs, Mr. Dhankhar further said, “There are some situations where we should be very lively. There are sinister forces with a dangerous intention to tarnish, distort and destroy our constitutional democracy. But you have to engage in rapid dissemination of information, we have to knock down and neutralize these forces, and this will be done successfully when you know the ground reality at the moment and are well embedded in the history and culture of this country.”

“India today has become a favorite investment destination and a ray of hope. The world is looking at us,” he said.

Recalling the past, he said that it was very sad to see India being dismissed as a basket case. “We were part of the Fragile Five. Look at that scene, most of you were either not born or were kids. What a happy scene it is for me now, when I go to Qatar and I see that India is a bright spot in the global economy. India is a destination of investment and opportunity and that is beyond any doubt.”

Saying that IFS will offer them what other services do not, he urged them to leave global footprints. “You will be able to serve Bharat in the best of traditions, with the kind of tough training that has been imported all over the globe. It is a great opportunity for personal development and a greater pride and satisfaction, that you will be representing the largest democracy in the planet. The largest democracy, the most functional and vibrant democracy.”

He said no country in the world has that kind of constitutional mechanism that India has. The Constitution provides for democracy at the village level, panchayat level, zila parishad, panchayat samiti and at the state level legislatures, and of course, at the central level, in the Parliament. The country also has democracy in a cooperative mechanism provided constitutionally. No country in the world can claim to be in that status, he said.
