Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is charting a new trajectory of development, combining robust economic growth with transparent governance. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presented the roadmap for the “New Uttar Pradesh” in the state assembly during discussions on the 2025-26 supplementary budget, highlighting the state’s transformation across infrastructure, economy, agriculture, energy, and social welfare.
According to the CM, the state has moved beyond merely achieving Ease of Doing Business, positioning itself as a global benchmark for Fearless Business and Trust of Doing Business. He added that a combination of zero tolerance towards crime and good governance has made Uttar Pradesh a preferred destination for investment.
Economic Leap: From ₹12 Lakh Crore to ₹35–36 Lakh Crore
CM Yogi Adityanath presented comparative data showing unprecedented economic growth in recent years:
- GSDP Growth: During 2012–16, Uttar Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) stood at ₹12.88 lakh crore. Today, it has reached nearly ₹35–36 lakh crore, reflecting fiscal discipline and policy-driven growth.
- Per Capita Income: Citizens’ average income has tripled, rising from ₹43,000 to around ₹1,20,000, demonstrating inclusive economic progress.
Agriculture and Energy: Leading a ‘Green Revolution’
The CM emphasized that development extends beyond urban centers, with transformative initiatives in agriculture and energy:
- Agricultural Growth: The state’s agricultural sector growth rate has jumped from 8% to 18%, reflecting modernization and productivity enhancements.
- Solar Energy Leadership: With 1 GW of solar projects, Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a national leader in renewable energy, promoting both environmental sustainability and energy self-reliance.
- Healthcare Infrastructure: Under the “One District, One Medical College” initiative, 81 medical colleges have strengthened health services across the state.
Empowering Youth: 60 Lakh Jobs and a Thriving Startup Ecosystem
Addressing unemployment, CM Yogi noted that investment projects on the ground have generated employment for approximately 60 lakh youth. The MSME sector, with 96 lakh units, now sustains the livelihood of 2 crore families, bolstering entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities.
Banking Confidence and Financial Health
Highlighting improvements in the financial sector, the Chief Minister said the Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio has increased from 44% to 65%, reflecting stronger credit availability for startups, self-employment, and infrastructure projects. The government aims to raise this ratio to 70%, further accelerating economic growth.
Corruption-Free Governance: Face-less and Non-Discriminatory Services
CM Yogi stressed that welfare schemes are now faceless, ensuring benefits reach eligible citizens without intermediaries or discrimination. From Ayushman cards to free ration, government assistance is being delivered efficiently and transparently. He credited this approach, combined with strong law and order, for transforming Uttar Pradesh from a lagging state into a model of growth and development.
