Bhararisain: In an interactive session held in Bhararisain, the summer capital of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami engaged in a candid dialogue with young aspirants preparing to join the Agniveer scheme.
The interaction saw cadets asking direct questions about their future after the four-year Agniveer service, Dhami’s leadership style, and his personal connection with the armed forces. The Chief Minister responded openly, addressing both policy concerns and personal queries.
10% Horizontal Reservation for Agniveers in Uniformed Services
One of the biggest concerns raised by the cadets was about their career prospects after completing four years under the Agnipath Scheme.
Responding to this, Dhami assured them that the state government has already taken steps to secure their future.
He announced that the Uttarakhand government has provided 10% horizontal reservation for Agniveers in police and other uniformed services in the state.
The Chief Minister also noted that the Central Government is creating opportunities for Agniveers in multiple sectors to ensure their skills and experience are effectively utilized after service.

CM Explains the Story Behind the ‘Dhakad Dhami’ Image
During the interaction, a cadet named Ritesh Panwar asked the Chief Minister why people call him “Dhakad Dhami.”
Dhami responded with a smile, explaining that while a public representative should maintain a polite and approachable attitude toward citizens, there are times when strong and decisive decisions are necessary for the state’s welfare.
He cited several policy decisions taken under his leadership, including the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand. He also mentioned strict anti-cheating and anti-riot laws introduced in the state.
According to the Chief Minister, these firm policy decisions may have contributed to his “Dhakad” image among the public.
A Soldier’s Son Serving the State in Another Way
Another cadet, Shankar Singh Rana, asked Dhami why he did not join the armed forces despite being the son of a soldier.
In response, the Chief Minister said that the discipline and values he learned from his father continue to guide his public life.
He stated that just as soldiers serve the nation, he considers his role as Chief Minister as a way to serve the people of the state with the same dedication and commitment.

Balancing Public Life and Family
The interaction also included lighter moments. Cadet Himanshu Rautela asked how Dhami manages to find time for his family while serving as the Chief Minister.
Dhami replied that political life comes with immense responsibilities and time constraints. He added that he considers every resident of Uttarakhand as part of his extended family and every village as his own.
Tribute to Soldiers and Military Heritage
During the event, the Chief Minister also highlighted the construction of a grand military memorial in Dehradun, where the stories of the state’s brave martyrs will be preserved.
He praised the leadership of Narendra Modi for strengthening and modernizing India’s armed forces and promoting self-reliance in defense.
The event was attended by Ajay Kothiyal (Retd.), founder of the Youth Foundation, along with several ex-servicemen and youth preparing for military recruitment.
