CM Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Rural Development Department at the Secretariat on Monday. In a significant move toward enhancing rural sanitation and environmental management, he directed officials to ensure the establishment of a solid waste management unit in every village across the state.
Promotion of Chief Minister Udyamshala Yojana
During the meeting, Mr. Dhami emphasized the importance of the Chief Minister Udyamshala Yojana, instructing officials to expedite its implementation and promotion. The scheme is aimed at nurturing rural entrepreneurship and enhancing livelihood opportunities.
Smart Villages to Be Developed in Each Development Block
In a bid to transform rural infrastructure, Mr. Dhami also directed the department to develop at least one smart village in every development block. He stressed that these model villages should be equipped with basic amenities like drinking water and electricity, and ensure that every family is gainfully employed. The goal is to set a benchmark for holistic rural development.
Boost to Innovation and Women Empowerment through Vibrant Village Programme
Highlighting the Vibrant Village initiative, Mr. Dhami called for a focused effort to promote innovation in remote areas. He also directed that products made by women self-help groups (SHGs) be linked to the umbrella brand ‘House of Himalayas’, to expand market access and visibility. This step is expected to empower women and strengthen rural economies.
The Chief Minister concluded the meeting by reiterating the government’s commitment to inclusive development and sustainable progress across Uttarakhand’s rural landscape.
