Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami, during his visit to Rishikesh on Saturday, laid the foundation stone for two significant infrastructure projects under the Rishikesh Ganga Corridor initiative: the iconic city base station and a multi-storey car parking facility. Cabinet Minister Mr. Subodh Uniyal was also present during the occasion.
Boost to Chardham Yatra Infrastructure
Speaking at the event, CM Dhami emphasised that the projects mark a vital step towards building a “Developed Uttarakhand” by blending faith with modern amenities. With the ongoing Chardham Yatra bringing a massive influx of pilgrims to Rishikesh, the construction of a dedicated base station will offer pilgrims improved coordination and services. “This initiative, which aligns modern infrastructure with the spiritual significance of Rishikesh, reflects our vision for a progressive and well-equipped Uttarakhand,” he stated.

Multi-Storey Parking to Address Chronic Space Issues
Highlighting the long-standing issue of parking congestion in Rishikesh, CM Dhami said the upcoming multi-storey car parking would help significantly ease the traffic and parking woes of the city, especially during peak pilgrimage seasons. Once operational, the facility is expected to streamline vehicle movement and provide relief to both residents and tourists.
Visit to Haridwar and Spiritual Engagement
Before arriving in Rishikesh, the Chief Minister visited Haridwar, where he received blessings from Jagadguru Shankaracharya Rajarajeshwarashram at the Jagadguru Ashram. He also participated in the closing ceremony of the 70th Foundation Day of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare of workers and labourers.
CM Dhami’s visit reflects the state government’s proactive approach in integrating religious tourism with urban development and modern infrastructure.
