Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday attended the program commemorating the 50th Nirvana Day of Pujya Satguru Lal Das Maharaj at Shri Brahma Niwas Ashram on Saptasarovar Road, Bhupatwala, Haridwar.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Dhami described Satguru Lal Das Maharaj as a towering spiritual figure who dedicated his life to spirituality, service, truth, and devotion. “He inspired society with the message that service is the greatest religion. Like Lord Buddha, Satguru’s words were full of power and his vision brimmed with compassion,” the Chief Minister said. He also praised the spiritual leader for bringing devotion to the masses and promoting unity in society.
Mr. Dhami emphasised that under Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s leadership, Sanatan culture is gaining global recognition. “The world is now familiarising itself with our ancient traditions and spiritual wisdom. Guided by the Prime Minister’s vision, the Uttarakhand government is consistently working to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Devbhoomi,” he added.
Rishikesh-Haridwar Corridor and Cultural Preservation
Mr. Dhami announced that the Rishikesh-Haridwar corridor project is in the pipeline and, once completed, will transform Haridwar’s appearance on the lines of Kashi and Ayodhya. “The state government is dedicated to protecting Uttarakhand’s cultural values and demographic integrity,” he stated.
He also highlighted strict measures taken by the government, including the implementation of an anti-conversion law and the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) — a first-of-its-kind legislation in the country — to ensure equal rights and justice for all.
Crackdown on Fraudulent Religious Elements
The Chief Minister further mentioned “Operation Kalanemi”, a campaign aimed at identifying and taking action against those who exploit people in the name of Sanatan Dharma. “We are committed to acting against hypocrites and heretics who, in disguise, tarnish the image of our Sanatan Hindu religion,” Mr. Dhami said.
Bhagwat Geeta in Curriculum, Centre for Hindu Studies
As part of its cultural outreach, the state government plans to introduce teachings of the Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta in schools. Additionally, a Centre for Hindu Studies has been established at Doon University, to deepen academic engagement with Hindu philosophy and traditions.
The event saw the presence of spiritual leaders, devotees, and senior state officials, reflecting the significance of the occasion and the government’s growing focus on cultural and spiritual initiatives.
