Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an aerial survey of the under-construction multi-purpose Jamrani Dam project in Nainital district on Friday and expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for reviving a project that had remained dormant for more than 60 years.
After the inspection, Mr. Dhami said, “First of all, I would like to thank PM Modi on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand. This project had been pending for over six decades. Governments came and went, but the work never began. Today, under his leadership, this long-awaited dream has become a reality.”
He added that a completion deadline of 2029 has been fixed for the project and reiterated that the Uttarakhand Government will make every effort to finish it within the stipulated time.
Jamrani Dam: A Long-Awaited Lifeline
The Jamrani Dam Project is a key multi-purpose development initiative in the Nainital district, expected to address critical issues related to irrigation, drinking water supply, and regional development. The revival of the project is being seen as a historic milestone for the hill state. The Chief Minister emphasised that once completed, it will transform the lives of the people of the region by ensuring better water availability and agricultural growth.
CM Dhami Launches ‘The Emergency Diaries’
Earlier in the day, Mr. Dhami also attended the launch event of the book ‘The Emergency Diaries: Years that Forged a Leader’, published by BlueKraft. Speaking on the occasion, he said the book is “not merely a collection of pages, but an experience that touches the heart.”
He described the book as an emotional and inspiring journey through a dark period in Indian democracy when freedom of expression was curtailed. He highlighted how Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve during the Emergency stood out, calling him a leader “who kept the torch of his thoughts burning even in silence.”
Mr. Dhami remarked, “Reading this chapter of Prime Minister Modi’s life fills me with pride. His leadership today—standing tall on the global stage—was forged in the heat of that struggle.”
A Look at the Book
‘The Emergency Diaries’ draws on first-person accounts and rare anecdotes from those who closely worked with a young Narendra Modi during the Emergency of 1975-77. It uses archival materials and narrative storytelling to paint a detailed portrait of Modi’s formative years and ideological evolution during one of India’s most challenging political periods.
The book is being hailed as a valuable contribution to political literature, offering both academic insight and personal storytelling about a time that shaped the nation and its future leadership.
With the Jamrani Dam Project moving forward and important literary tributes being made to India’s democratic spirit, Chief Minister Dhami’s twin engagements on Friday underline the government’s commitment to both infrastructure growth and ideological awareness.
