In a proactive move to boost welfare measures and policing efficiency, Uttarakhand‘s Director General of Police, Mr. Deepam Seth (1995-batch IPS officer), has directed the appointment of nodal officers for the welfare of armed forces personnel, ex-servicemen, paramilitary staff, and retired police personnel stationed along the state’s borders. This decision aims to resolve their grievances at the police level in a timely and systematic manner.

These nodal officers will be responsible for monitoring and reporting issues related to pensions, medical aid, counselling services, and other welfare activities to the police headquarters.
While reviewing police operations at Patel Bhawan on Wednesday, Mr. Seth issued comprehensive instructions to district police and battalion in-charges, focusing on law and order, crime control, police infrastructure, and preparations for the upcoming Chardham Yatra.
Key Instructions Issued by the DGP:
Law and Order and Crime Control
- Conduct station-wise reviews by activating the intelligence network to track and apprehend wanted criminals.
- Expedite pending investigations by identifying causes for delays and assigning individual accountability to Station House Officers (SHOs).
- Launch special drives to arrest criminals and dispose of long-pending cases.
- Maintain a continuous anti-drug campaign with action against habitual offenders under the PIT NDPS Act.
- Strengthen public safety efforts by improving Dial 112 response times and running beat-level public outreach campaigns focusing on women’s safety and cybercrime awareness.
- Ensure presence of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and field units during the monthly review of serious crimes.
Technology & Portals
- Raise awareness about new legal provisions such as Zero FIR and e-FIR.
- Improve the quality of data in the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS).
- Timely data uploads on national portals such as the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, NATGRID, Enccord, Diagnosis, and Psyche.
- Appoint district-level nodal officers for each portal and ensure regular reporting to the headquarters.
- Provide proper portal operation training to all concerned personnel.
Chardham Yatra Preparedness
- Expedite activation of the Chardham Control Room in the Garhwal Range Office.
- Finalize comprehensive travel route plans, including crowd control, traffic management, parking, and security.
- Integrate real-time updates, emergency helplines, and route alerts into the Uttarakhand Police mobile application.
Fit Uttarakhand Campaign
- Regular health checkups for police personnel.
- Organise PT, yoga, parade, and meditation sessions.
- Conduct stress management and mental health counselling workshops.
- Promote awareness on healthy lifestyles and work-life balance.
Empowerment of Women Police Personnel
- Launch targeted skill development programs and conduct workshops on cybercrime, investigation techniques, and protection of women and children.
- Strengthen provisions for health, maternity benefits, and counselling to support duty readiness.
- Ensure promotion, recognition, and equal opportunities for women in the force.
DGP Mr. Deepam Seth emphasized the need to create a tech-enabled, sensitive, and professional police force in Uttarakhand. He highlighted digital efficiency, swift crime response, and effective use of portals as core pillars for reform in the state’s policing model.
