In a significant move to support the youth aspiring to serve in the Indian Army, the Uttarakhand government has announced that it will provide free pre-recruitment training for candidates interested in joining the Agniveer scheme. This initiative comes following directives from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, aiming to prepare the state’s youth comprehensively for the Agniveer recruitment process.

According to officials, the Sports and Youth Welfare Department of Uttarakhand has formulated a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to implement the training program effectively. The training sessions will be conducted across all 13 districts of the state, ensuring widespread access for eligible candidates.

Eligibility Criteria for Free Training

To be eligible for the free training, candidates must fulfill certain criteria. They should be native or permanent residents of Uttarakhand, or currently studying or employed in an institution within the state. Additionally, candidates must have passed their high school examinations with at least 45 percent overall marks and a minimum of 33 percent in each subject. Age eligibility requires candidates to be at least 16 years old.

Chief Minister Emphasizes Uttarakhand’s Military Tradition

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that Uttarakhand’s proud military heritage inspires the government to actively facilitate young men and women in their journey to join the Armed Forces through the Agniveer recruitment. “Given Uttarakhand’s glorious military tradition, it is our responsibility to equip our youth with the necessary skills and training to serve the nation,” Dhami said.

Post-Service Reservation Benefits for Agniveers

Moreover, Chief Minister Dhami revealed another progressive step taken by the state government to motivate Agniveers. After completing their service period, Agniveers will be entitled to reservation benefits in government jobs within Uttarakhand. This policy aims to provide job security and honor the contribution of those who serve the country through the Agniveer scheme.

Strengthening Youth Empowerment and Defence Preparedness

The Uttarakhand government’s initiative reflects its commitment to youth empowerment and strengthening the state’s legacy of military service. Through this program, many young men and women will get a valuable opportunity to realize their ambitions of joining the Army, while also benefiting from enhanced career prospects after their service.

The training program is set to commence soon, and eligible candidates are encouraged to take advantage of this free facility to prepare themselves for a promising future in the defense forces.
