In a major step towards expanding international employment opportunities, the Uttarakhand government signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Germany-based Innovation Hub Rhine-Main on Friday. The agreement was formalized at the Chief Minister’s residence in the presence of Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The collaboration aims to provide the skilled youth of Uttarakhand with employment opportunities in diverse sectors in Germany, including healthcare, automobiles, vocational training, hydrogen technology, renewable energy, and innovation-driven startups.
Focus on Skill Development and Language Training
Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that the government is committed to preparing the youth of Uttarakhand for global careers. Along with technical and vocational training, special focus is being given to foreign language proficiency. Training in German language will be provided to enable smooth integration of youth into Germany’s workforce.
Mr. Dhami highlighted that Uttarakhand has immense talent, and the government is tailoring skill development programs based on the workforce demands of various countries. The state’s efforts are already helping many young professionals secure jobs abroad after receiving both skill development and foreign language training.
High-Level Delegation Present During Agreement
The signing ceremony was attended by Cabinet Minister Mr. Saurabh Bahuguna, Principal Secretary Ms. R. Meenakshi Sundaram (2001-batch IAS officer), Secretaries Mr. Shailesh Bagauli (2002-batch IAS officer), Mr. Vinay Shankar Pandey (2007-batch IAS officer), and Mr. C. Ravishankar (2009-batch IAS officer). The German delegation included Raunheim city mayor Mr. David Redl, Foreign Investment Cell advisor Mr. Saurabh Bhagat, and Innovation Hub Rhine-Main CEO Mr. Stefan Witterkeil.
The initiative is expected to open new global pathways for the youth of Uttarakhand, aligning with the state government’s vision of building a skilled, future-ready workforce.
