Dehradun: The Central Government has extended significant additional financial support to Uttarakhand, granting ₹759 crore to strengthen the state’s modern infrastructure and overall economic framework. The assistance includes ₹734 crore for capital investment and ₹25 crore for urban land reforms, aimed at accelerating development projects and improving planned urban growth.
The financial support has been approved by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, under the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment. The allocation has been made in recognition of Uttarakhand’s timely completion of prescribed financial reforms, reflecting the state’s commitment to fiscal discipline and efficient governance.
Boost to Infrastructure and Urban Development
With this additional allocation, the total financial assistance extended by the Centre to Uttarakhand in the financial year 2025–26 has reached ₹1,806.49 crore. The funds will be utilized for key development initiatives, including the construction and upgradation of roads, bridges, urban infrastructure, public works, and other essential facilities across the state.
The ₹25 crore earmarked specifically for urban land reforms is expected to support planned development in urban areas, enhance transparency in land management, and create a more investment-friendly environment. These reforms are also aimed at ensuring orderly urban expansion and improving civic amenities.
Recognition for Timely Financial Reforms
The Centre’s decision to release the additional funds is linked to Uttarakhand’s successful and timely implementation of financial reforms mandated under the scheme. This performance-based assistance is designed to encourage states to strengthen fiscal management while accelerating capital expenditure that contributes to long-term economic growth.
Chief Minister Expresses Gratitude
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the continued support. He stated that the additional financial assistance would play a crucial role in transforming infrastructure, boosting economic activity, and realizing the vision of a “Developed Uttarakhand.”
The Chief Minister added that such support from the Centre would help in fulfilling the goal of making this decade the “Decade of Uttarakhand”, ensuring sustainable growth and improved quality of life for the people of the state.
