Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has completed the public consultation process for the Haridwar-Rudki Mega Plan 2041, proposed under the central AMRUT 1.0 scheme, aimed at making both cities well-planned, sustainable, and future-ready.
The consultation received around 900 suggestions and objections—approximately 350 from Haridwar and 550 from Rudki—which were carefully reviewed to ensure the plan reflects public interest and practical feasibility.
Focus on Land Use, Infrastructure, and Environment
The mega plan emphasizes comprehensive urban development, including:
- Strategic land use planning
- Residential and industrial growth
- Traffic management and transportation networks
- Expansion of core infrastructure
- Environmental conservation
- Strengthening public amenities
Chief Town and Country Planner Shashi Mohan Srivastava presented the draft plan, highlighting progress so far and the roadmap for upcoming phases.

Government Commitment to Sustainable Development
Housing Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar chaired a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat, instructing officials to examine every suggestion transparently and seriously. He emphasized that the plan is not just about physical expansion but also about better environment, smooth traffic flow, robust infrastructure, and higher living standards for residents.
Next Steps and Approval
Officials have been directed to finalize the mega plan in a time-bound manner and submit it for approval at the government level. Senior officers from the Department of Urban and Rural Planning participated in the meeting and discussed all key aspects of long-term city development.
