Dehradun: Uttarakhand is rapidly emerging as a significant Himalayan state, with the government actively implementing major projects aimed at boosting connectivity, energy production, infrastructure, and pilgrimage tourism, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said. Despite ecological sensitivities, the state has become a key hub for monitoring large-scale development initiatives under a dedicated progress tracking system.
Major Projects Driving Economic Growth
Currently, the state is overseeing 42 major projects with a total investment of ₹3.50 lakh crore. Among these, 15 high-value projects, worth ₹1.22 lakh crore, are under direct review through the state’s progress monitoring system, reflecting their national importance in infrastructure development.
Of the 42 projects, 10 have been completed and are operational, accounting for nearly ₹1 lakh crore of investment. The remaining 32 projects are in the implementation phase, with approximately ₹3.3 lakh crore invested, showing that over 96% of total investment is actively under construction or execution.
Sector-Wise Impact of Completed Projects
The 10 operational projects include initiatives in roads and highways (4), oil and gas (3), power generation (1), aviation infrastructure (1), and education (1). These projects have significantly improved road connectivity, energy supply, and air access across the state. Of these, 3 projects valued at ₹8,205 crore were reviewed under the PRAC framework, ensuring transparency and accountability in execution.
Monitoring Implementation for Transparency and Speed
Among the 32 ongoing projects, 12 are under active progress monitoring, helping ensure timely completion and operational efficiency. The state government’s focus on rigorous monitoring mechanisms aims to maintain project speed while balancing ecological concerns and maximizing public benefits.
Boosting Uttarakhand’s Strategic and Economic Role
With investments spanning multiple sectors, Uttarakhand is not only strengthening its regional connectivity and energy capabilities but also enhancing infrastructure critical to tourism and economic growth. CM Dhami emphasized that these projects are set to position Uttarakhand as a model Himalayan state, balancing development with environmental sustainability.
