Dehradun: In a major boost for urban development in Uttarakhand, the Central Government has approved ₹264.50 crore as special assistance (loan) under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) Scheme 2025–26.

The assistance has been granted under Part-XA: Urban Land and Planning Reforms and has been released in a single installment, providing immediate financial support for capital-intensive urban projects in the state.

Funds Released Based on Ministry Recommendation

The financial assistance was sanctioned following the recommendation of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

According to officials, the Uttarakhand government had submitted its proposal through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) portal, which was later approved by the competent authority of the Central Government.

Unlike many schemes where funds are released in phases, the Centre released the entire amount in a single tranche, allowing the state government to move ahead quickly with its planned urban infrastructure projects.

Boost for Capital Urban Development Projects

The assistance will help the state government implement capital projects related to urban planning, land management, and infrastructure development.

With rapid urbanization increasing pressure on city infrastructure, the funds are expected to support better planning and efficient use of urban land while improving civic amenities.

Officials say the funding will reduce delays in project execution and help the state accelerate its urban development agenda.

CM Dhami Thanks Centre for Support

Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude to the Central Government and praised the leadership of Narendra Modi for consistently supporting infrastructure development in states.

The Chief Minister said the assistance will play a crucial role in promoting planned urban growth, modern land management systems, and stronger urban infrastructure in Uttarakhand.

He also emphasized that the state government is continuously working to ensure better urban planning, organized development, and expansion of public services in cities.

Focus on Sustainable and Balanced Urban Growth

According to the Chief Minister, the financial support will help the state strengthen its efforts toward balanced and sustainable urban development.

The government aims to use the funds to improve urban infrastructure and ensure that citizens receive better public amenities and services in rapidly growing towns and cities across Uttarakhand.

With the funds now released, the focus will shift toward prioritizing projects and ensuring timely implementation of proposed urban development initiatives.
