Patna: The newly constructed Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum and Memorial Stupa in Vaishali, dedicated to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha, has become a major attraction for devotees, tourists, and the general public from across India and abroad. Since its inauguration in July 2025, over 3.57 lakh visitors have toured the site, including students, school groups, and children, according to the Department of Art and Culture.
Visitors from Across the Globe
Tourists from countries such as Myanmar, Vietnam, Singapore, Algeria, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, Albania, Nepal, and Afghanistan have visited the stupa to witness its grandeur and pay homage to the relics. Large numbers of school children and organized tour groups have also flocked to the site, making it a hub of cultural and spiritual tourism in Bihar.

Inauguration by CM Nitish Kumar
The memorial stupa and museum were inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on July 29, 2025. Spanning 72 acres, the stupa is entirely constructed from sandstone, incorporating 42,373 sandstone blocks. Modern earthquake-resistant techniques were used in its construction to ensure that the structure remains stable and preserved for thousands of years.
Enhancing Visitor Experience
Kumar Ravi, Secretary of the Building Construction Department, stated that the stupa’s majesty and spiritual significance have become the main attraction for visitors. Efforts are underway to further beautify the museum complex and its surroundings to make it more appealing to tourists.
The museum displays include eight auspicious symbols, Tara Mudra exhibits, and Lichhavi-era artifacts. Sculptural works and the Ashokan pillar display are progressing rapidly. In addition, all structures have been designed to withstand seismic activity, ensuring the long-term safety and preservation of the site.

The Buddha Samyak Museum and Memorial Stupa has quickly become a landmark for religious tourism in Bihar, blending spiritual reverence with cultural education. With modern facilities, guided exhibitions, and a vast, serene campus, the site offers a unique experiential journey into the life and teachings of Lord Buddha.
