Rajkot: Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Monday announced that the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) will serve as a key platform to attract large-scale investments to the Saurashtra and Kutch regions. The conference, scheduled for January 11 at Marwadi University in Rajkot, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Rajkot District Collector’s office, Deputy CM Sanghavi emphasized the state government’s commitment to resolving issues faced by small and large industrialists to facilitate faster industrial growth. He noted that, under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, a coordination meeting was conducted with industrialists from the Saurashtra–Kutch region along with departmental group meetings to ensure the on-the-spot resolution of grievances, operational challenges, and investment-related representations.
Rajkot: The Growth Engine of Gujarat
Deputy CM Sanghavi described Rajkot as Gujarat’s “growth engine” in the manufacturing sector, highlighting the city’s immense potential to attract both domestic and foreign investments. He added that following the success of the first VGRC in Mehsana, Rajkot was selected as the venue for the next regional conference to further strengthen industrial momentum in the region.
The VGRC, Sanghavi said, is expected to act as a catalyst for significant investments in Saurashtra and Kutch, fostering industrial expansion and employment generation. He added that the state government is focused on accelerating development and making it easier for traders, manufacturers, and industrialists to operate efficiently.
Industrial Incentives and Government Support
Highlighting the state’s incentive framework, Deputy CM Sanghavi revealed that under various Gujarat government industrial policies, incentive assistance worth ₹956.51 crore has been disbursed to 10,435 industrialists in Rajkot. Furthermore, approval letters totaling ₹661.73 crore will soon be issued to 137 industrialists from Saurashtra–Kutch under schemes including Textile Incentives to Industries, Environmental Industrial Infrastructure Facilities, and small-scale industry schemes.
He asserted that Gujarat leads the nation in the speedy disbursement of industrial incentives and that the Industries Department is working around the clock to further streamline the process. He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making Gujarat one of the most successful states in attracting investments.
Local and State-Level Engagements for Industrial Growth
In-charge Minister Jitu Vaghani welcomed the government’s initiative of holding direct meetings with industrialists, stating that addressing their concerns locally while promptly resolving policy-related matters at the state level is a commendable approach to strengthening Gujarat’s economy.
The press conference was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Jayanti Ravi, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries and Mines) Mamta Verma, legislators Uday Kangad, Darshita Shah, Durlabh Dethariya, and Rajkot District Collector Om Prakash, among other officials.
