Visakhapatnam: In a significant gesture of appreciation, Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a premier Defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Defence, honoured Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, during his visit to the Shipyard.

HSL Leadership Commends Visionary Guidance

HSL’s Chairman and Managing Director, Commodore Girideep Singh, along with the shipyard’s functional directors, extended heartfelt gratitude to Vice Admiral Pendharkar for his strategic leadership, vision, and unwavering support. His contributions have been pivotal in driving HSL’s transformation into a modern, efficient, and self-reliant defence shipbuilding facility.

CMD Singh praised the Admiral’s focus on strengthening naval-industrial collaboration and his advocacy for Make in India in the defence sector.

Vice Admiral Applauds HSL’s Transformation

During his address at the shipyard, Vice Admiral Pendharkar lauded HSL for its remarkable evolution into a cutting-edge Defence PSU, capable of executing complex naval projects. He acknowledged the Shipyard’s critical role in supporting the Indian Navy through –

  • Construction of Fleet Support Ships
  • Advanced naval platforms and refits
  • Capability enhancement for maritime defence infrastructure

The Vice Admiral expressed confidence in HSL’s ongoing and future projects, reiterating its strategic value in India’s journey towards defence indigenisation and self-reliance.

Strengthening Naval-Industrial Partnership

The partnership between the Eastern Naval Command and HSL continues to be a cornerstone in India’s maritime preparedness. Their collaboration has contributed significantly to boosting the country’s indigenous capabilities in defence manufacturing, aligning with the national objective of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

Vice Admiral Pendharkar’s visit reaffirmed the Navy’s strong support for HSL’s initiatives and its expanding role in India’s naval modernisation drive.

Vice Admiral Pendharkar, a highly decorated officer, has had an illustrious career spanning over three decades. Known for his operational acumen and strategic leadership, he currently leads the Eastern Naval Command – a key operational formation of the Indian Navy responsible for safeguarding the eastern seaboard.
