New Delhi: Vinod Kumar Tripathi, currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Steel, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at Steel Authority of India Limited, New Delhi.
The appointment has been approved by the Department of Personnel and Training under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
One-Year Tenure or Until Regular Appointment
According to an official order, Tripathi will hold the additional charge of CVO at SAIL for one year from the date he assumes the position or until a regular CVO is appointed, whichever comes earlier.
The decision was issued through an official memorandum by DoPT, reflecting the government’s focus on maintaining strong vigilance oversight in key public sector enterprises.

At SAIL, the CVO oversees vigilance administration, anti-corruption initiatives, and monitoring of governance practices to ensure that operations adhere to the highest standards of integrity.
Officials said assigning Tripathi this additional responsibility highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening accountability and corporate governance in major PSUs.
Coordination with Vigilance Authorities
The appointment order has also been circulated to key government offices, including the Central Vigilance Commission, which supervises vigilance activities across government departments and public sector undertakings.
Senior officials and concerned directorates have been informed to facilitate coordination and ensure smooth functioning of vigilance processes within SAIL.
