Western Coalfields Limited Shines at Coal India’s 51st Foundation Day, Wins 10 Prestigious Awards for Excellence

New Delhi: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a leading subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), has been conferred with ten prestigious awards — comprising four Corporate Awards and six Individual Excellence Awards — on the occasion of Coal India’s 51st Foundation Day celebrations.

The Foundation Day ceremony, held on November 1, 2025, in Kolkata, highlighted WCL’s exceptional contributions across multiple operational and social domains. The awards were presented by CIL Chairman Mr. Sanoj Kumar Jha to WCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Mr. J. P. Dwivedi, Director (Technical – Operations/Projects & Planning) Mr. Anandji Prasad, Director (Human Resources) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pandey, and the respective departmental General Managers and officials.

Corporate Awards Reflect WCL’s All-Round Excellence

WCL received top honors for its outstanding achievements in key areas:

  • First Prize – Land Acquisition & Rehabilitation
  • Second Prize – Environment Management
  • Second Prize – CSR Excellence
  • Third Prize – Star Rating – Best Performing Subsidiary

  • Mr. Rakesh Prasad, General Manager (Projects & Planning), WCL HQ – Best Head of Department
  • Mr. Sabyasachi Dey, General Manager, Wani Area – Individual Excellence Award
  • Mr. Rajkumar, Mechanical Fitter, Pathakhera Area – Outstanding Sportsperson
  • Manjusha Dhote, Crane Operator, Ballarpur Area – Best Female Employee (Non-HEMM Category)
  • Mr. A. Anil Kumar, Senior Manager (Civil), Headquarters – Vigilance Excellence Award
