Delhi: 2010 batch IAS officer of of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Ms Laya Madduri has been appointed as the Director of the Department of Economic Affairs, Delhi. Prior to this, she served as the Secretary of the Finance Department in Assam, with additional charge as the Managing Director of Assam Financial Corporation.
A graduate of Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, and a Master’s in Public Policy from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Smt. Madduri has had a remarkable career in public administration.
Throughout her career, she has held key positions in Assam, including Assistant Commissioner in Nagaon, Sub-Divisional Officer in Majuli, and Deputy Commissioner in Sonitpur, Dibrugarh, and Cachar. Known for her people-centric approach, she has made significant contributions in both administrative roles and policy-level assignments, including her tenure as State Project Director of ARIASP and Secretary for various departments, including Finance and Science & Technology.
In March 2025, her exemplary leadership and expertise earned her a central deputation, further cementing her position as a respected and capable public servant.
