Chennai / Mumbai: Titan Company Limited has appointed senior IAS officer Sandhya Venugopal Sharma as the Chairperson and Additional Director on its Board, following a nomination by the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). The appointment was disclosed by the company in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Tuesday.
Appointment Approved Through Board Resolution
According to the exchange filing, Titan’s Board approved Sharma’s appointment through a Circular Resolution dated December 29, 2025, which received the requisite majority approval. Her appointment will come into effect from January 4, 2026.
With this move, Sandhya Venugopal Sharma will assume the role of Chairperson of the Board, succeeding Arun Roy, IAS. While Roy will step down from the chairperson’s position, he will continue to serve as a Director on the Titan Board.
Nominee of TIDCO
Ms Sharma has been appointed as a Nominee Director of TIDCO, which is one of the joint venture partners in Titan Company. Titan is a long-standing joint venture between the Tata Group and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, reflecting a unique public-private partnership model in Indian corporate governance.
Extensive Administrative and Technical Experience
IAS Sharma is a 1995-batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre and brings with her nearly three decades of experience in governance, policy formulation, and administration. Over the course of her career, she has held several key administrative and technical positions at both the state and central levels.
Key Role in India’s Space and Science Administration
A significant phase of Sharma’s career was spent on central deputation with the Department of Space, where she served first as Joint Secretary and later as Additional Secretary in Bengaluru. From April 2019 to October 2025, she contributed to India’s space and science administration, gaining exposure to high-technology sectors, strategic project management, and complex institutional coordination.
Her experience in handling large-scale, technology-driven programmes is expected to add strategic depth to Titan’s Board deliberations.
Leadership Transition at Titan Board
The appointment marks an important leadership transition at Titan, with Sharma taking over the chairperson’s role while ensuring continuity through Arun Roy’s continued presence on the Board. The move underscores the company’s emphasis on experienced administrative leadership and institutional stability.
Sandeep Nanduri Resigns from Titan Board
In a separate disclosure to the stock exchanges, Titan also informed that Sandeep Nanduri, nominee of TIDCO, has resigned from his position as Non-Executive Non-Independent Director. The resignation follows the withdrawal of his nomination by TIDCO, aligning with the reconstitution of the Board representation from the state-run corporation.
Strengthening Governance Framework
With Sandhya Venugopal Sharma’s appointment as Chairperson, Titan aims to further strengthen its governance framework, leveraging her wide-ranging experience across public administration, industrial development, and strategic policy domains.
