Lucknow/Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has approved the appointment of Shalabh Mathur, IPS (UP:2006), as Inspector General (IG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on deputation. The appointment comes against an existing vacancy in the force and will follow the usual terms and conditions of central deputation.
The competent authority has directed that Mr Mathur be relieved immediately from his current duties in Uttar Pradesh to enable him to take up the new assignment at the Centre.
About Shalabh Mathur
Mr Mathur is a high-ranking IPS officer of the 2006 batch, belonging to the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He hails from Jaipur, Rajasthan, and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electronics & Communication. Born on December 28, 1980, Mathur has built a distinguished career in both field policing and administrative roles within the UP Police.

Inspector General of Police (Administration/Personnel), DGP Headquarters, Lucknow (Sept 2024–Jan 2026): Responsible for personnel management and administrative discipline within the Uttar Pradesh Police. Often referred to as IG Establishment or IG Karmik.
- IG Aligarh Range: Oversaw policing and law enforcement for the Aligarh region prior to his posting at DGP headquarters.
- DIG Moradabad Range: Served as Deputy Inspector General for the Moradabad region (Mar 2021 onwards).
- DIG Special Enquiry Wing, Lucknow: Managed specialized investigations and administrative responsibilities.

Central Deputation and Empanelment
Mr Mathur was empanelled to the rank of Inspector General in the Government of India in May 2025, making him eligible for central deputation. He received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Chief Minister’s Office in early January 2026 to join the CRPF.
He is among six UP cadre IPS officers approved for central deputation by the Union Home Ministry in May 2025, along with Ajay Kumar Mishra (2003), Nitin Tiwari, Amit Pathak, Deepika Tiwari, and Pratibha Ambedkar (2007 batch officers).
