IAS officer Rajneesh Goelhas been appointed as the next Chief Secretary of Karnataka. An IAS officer of the 1986 batch Mr. Goel is currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department. After the State Cabinet had authorised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to select the next Chief Secretary, Mr. Goel was selected to be the 40th Chief Secretary of Karnataka. He will take charge from outgoing Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma, who is retiring from service on November 30.
Hailing from Chandigarh, Mr. Goel has also served as ACS to CM Siddaramaiah. Known as a soft-spoken officer, Mr. Gole has held several positions in his 37-year career. He was BBMP commissioner and worked in the departments of higher education, women and child development and sports. He was also on central deputation for several years.
His wife Shalini Rajneesh, is also an IAS officer and is serving as the Additional Chief Secretary. She might succeed her husband as the Chief Secretary.
