Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath on Saturday unveiled a comprehensive action plan worth Rs. 30,000 crore for the all-round development of the Brij region, which includes the sacred cities of Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, and Gokul. “Our government is committed to respecting the sentiments of revered saints and to promoting the Brij region. We are making those works possible which were once considered impossible,” Mr. Adityanath stated while addressing an event at Panchjanya Auditorium in Mathura’s Dampier Nagar.
Inauguration of Key Projects
On the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, the Chief Minister inaugurated 80 projects worth Rs. 273 crore and laid the foundation stone for 38 projects costing Rs. 373 crore, making a total investment of Rs. 646 crore in Mathura-Vrindavan. These projects include beautification of parikrama routes, construction of entrance gates, renovation of kunds, improved facilities for devotees, better connectivity, water conservation, and measures for environmental protection. He also highlighted the ropeway project in Barsana as a major relief for elderly pilgrims.
Emphasis on Spiritual Heritage
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Adityanath said that India’s spiritual heritage has always guided the world in times of crisis. “Whenever the world has to overcome a crisis, only India’s spiritual heritage has paved the way for lasting peace and harmony,” he remarked. Priests present at the event noted that this year marks the 5,252nd birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.
He described Mathura as the eternal land of devotion where “Shri Krishna resides in the holy soil and dust,” and observed that such devotion is unparalleled across the world. He added that Lord Krishna incarnated to protect the weak, punish the wicked, and transformed the battlefield of the Mahabharat into a discourse on religion.
Linking Past Achievements with Future Goals
Mr. Adityanath also drew parallels with past religious milestones, noting how a decade ago the Ram Temple in Ayodhya seemed unimaginable but is now a reality. He cited the transformation of Kashi, where earlier 50 devotees could not gather for darshan together, while today, 50,000 devotees can do so simultaneously. He further recalled the massive scale of the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, where 67 crore devotees took a holy dip.
Highlighting his vision for the future, the Chief Minister said both society and government must work hand in hand to make Uttar Pradesh a prosperous and developed state by 2047.
