Shivpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed sewing machines, laptops, and certificates to around 250 participants at the 14th session of the Sewing, Embroidery, and Computer Training Centre, run by the Kashi Annapurna Anna Kshetra Trust. The event took place on Monday at the Annapurna Rishikul Brahmacharyashram Sanskrit College in Shivpur, highlighting the state government’s ongoing commitment to skill development and women empowerment.
Promoting Women’s Self-Reliance Through Skill Development
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath expressed gratitude to Mahant Shankar Puri of the Annapurna Ashram for organizing the event. He praised the 108-year-old ashram for its charitable work and dedication to preserving Indian culture and education.
Speaking on the occasion of Sharad Purnima, the Chief Minister said the program was a tribute to Mother Annapurna, emphasizing the significance of women’s empowerment under the state’s Mission Shakti initiative. He highlighted that the government’s efforts aim to make women self-reliant through health, education, and skill development programs.

Government Initiatives Supporting Women and Skill Growth
CM Adityanath cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship campaign, “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”, applauding its contributions in providing housing, sanitation, and gas connections to millions of women and households across the state. He underlined the importance of the textile sector, the second-largest employment provider globally after agriculture, and encouraged women to enhance their income through sewing.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the One District, One Product initiative, stating that locally made fabrics would soon reach markets worldwide. He announced plans for a Vastra Mitra Park sprawling over 1,100 acres in the state capital and the development of multiple textile parks to boost employment opportunities.
Preserving Sanskrit and Indian Cultural Heritage
Highlighting the spiritual side of the event, CM Yogi Adityanath lauded the trust’s efforts in promoting Sanskrit, calling it the divine language and a connector of the world’s spiritual knowledge. He praised the Sanskrit College students for chanting Vedic mantras during the program, creating a sacred atmosphere. The government, he said, supports Sanskrit learning through scholarships, accommodation, and advanced research facilities.
The Chief Minister paid tribute to India’s ancient legacy, including the world’s first university, Takshila, and great scholars like Panini and Maharishi Valmiki. He emphasized the need to integrate spiritual knowledge with practical skills for the welfare of society.
Event Dignitaries and Ceremony
The event began with CM Yogi Adityanath lighting a ceremonial lamp and offering flowers to the images of Mata Saraswati, Mahadev, and Mata Annapurna. Mahant Shankar Puri welcomed and honored the Chief Minister for his presence.
Other dignitaries present included Minister of State for Stamp and Court Registration Fees Ravindra Jaiswal, Minister of State for AYUSH and Food Security Dr. Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’, District Panchayat President Poonam Maurya, MLAs, MLCs, senior police officials, and government officers.
The event reinforced the Uttar Pradesh government’s focus on empowering women through skill development while preserving India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
