Agra: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Yatharth Hospital in Agra, highlighting the crucial role of private sector investment in healthcare to ensure affordable medical treatment for citizens. Speaking at the ceremony, the CM said that private hospitals and super-specialty medical colleges would receive government support under new policies to expand healthcare access across the state.
Growth of Medical Education in Uttar Pradesh
CM Yogi Adityanath noted the dramatic expansion of medical education in the state. “Before 2017, Uttar Pradesh had only 17 medical colleges. Today, the state operates 81 medical colleges,” he said. He emphasized that the government is encouraging private super-specialty hospitals and assisting private medical colleges to ensure high-quality healthcare reaches every district.
The CM added that private sector participation is essential to strengthen medical infrastructure and reduce the burden on government hospitals, thereby providing cost-effective treatment to people.

Infrastructure Development and Connectivity
Addressing broader development initiatives, CM Yogi highlighted the massive infrastructure growth in Uttar Pradesh. He said:
- Highways and expressways are being constructed across the state.
- Metro services are expanding to improve public transport.
- New railway lines are under development to enhance connectivity.
- Air connectivity has expanded significantly, with more airports constructed in the past 10 years than in the previous 70 years combined.
He emphasized that the state’s growth in infrastructure is aligned with heritage conservation and regional development, creating a balance between progress and cultural preservation.
Welfare and Health Initiatives
CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted the impact of government welfare programs, stating that over 6 crore people have risen above the poverty line due to targeted schemes. He also mentioned recent budget provisions that provide cashless healthcare benefits up to ₹5 lakh for over 10 lakh employees, including teachers, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and kitchen staff.

Pharma Manufacturing and Local Production
In line with promoting self-reliance in healthcare, the CM announced the development of a 1,500-acre Pharma Park in Lalitpur. This initiative aims to manufacture medicines within Uttar Pradesh, reducing dependency on imports and ensuring affordable healthcare for the state’s population.
CM’s Broader Vision for Uttar Pradesh
During his Agra visit, CM Yogi Adityanath also interacted with officials from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and discussed strategies for sustainable development and upcoming 2027 assembly elections. He reiterated that under the double-engine government, the state is witnessing unprecedented growth in health, education, infrastructure, and welfare schemes, setting a benchmark for other states in India.
