On the occasion of World Environment Day, IAS officer Supriya Sahu shared an inspiring short film titled “Resilient Mannar: A Journey of Conservation and Sustainability,” showcasing the remarkable ecological efforts in Tamil Nadu’s Gulf of Mannar. This region, an ecological haven, features a chain of 21 uninhabited islands extending from Rameshwaram to Kanniyakumari, renowned for its rich biodiversity and unique natural beauty.
The Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve is home to a wealth of corals, sea grasses, and mangroves, making it a vital area for conservation. Highlighting the ongoing initiatives, Sahu emphasized the significant interventions being made to protect these invaluable ecosystems. These efforts are crucial in maintaining the delicate balance where humans and nature coexist harmoniously.
In her message, Ms. Sahu urged everyone to take part in environmental protection, emphasizing that “every action matters.” She called on individuals to contribute to the preservation of the planet, reinforcing the collective responsibility towards sustainable living.
