Weeks after, the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) member Mr. Sanjeev Sanyal kicked up dirt through his controversial “UPSC is a waste of youthful energy” remark, bureaucrats all across the country have spoken up and expressed their dissent.
One such dissenter is an IAS officer, Mr. Manuj Jindal (2017 batch Maharashtra cadre) who took to X and wrote his heart out on the matter.
He wrote, “Not everyone wants be to an Ambani or an Elon Musk! The interesting thing is we as a society measure ‘success’ on superficial scales, such as money or popularity.”
Officer Jindal further stated, “UPSC Civil Services exam is a great leveller, which provides a relatively good level playing field to many students with humble, lower and middle-class backgrounds.”
He rightfully observed how ‘mobility in society’ (rise of the have-nots) was rudimentary to the nation’s civilisational progress and prosperity.
Officer Jindal is presently posted as the Joint Managing Director at Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MRSDC).

The interesting thing is we as a society measure ‘success’ on superficial scales, such as money or popularity.
However, a fulfilling life could very well having nothing to do with either money or popularity!
Money does not…
