Indian Forest Services (IFS) officer Parveen Kaswan recently shared a touching yet powerful glimpse into the world of wildlife parenting through a photograph of a one-horned rhino mother and her newborn calf. Captured during his patrol, the image quickly gained attention on social media after Kaswan posted it on X.
In the post, Mr. Kaswan highlighted the rhino mother’s role in her calf’s early life, explaining how she stays by its side for up to three years, teaching it vital survival skills. He emphasised the bond between the two, noting that the calf will learn how to survive in the wild under the mother’s protective care.
This few days old calf and one horned rhino mother was photographed by me yesterday while on patrolling. After birth, the mother stays close, protecting and nursing the calf for up to 3 years. He will learn all life skills from the mother. pic.twitter.com/BXKsNOTQ6U
