Tigers are always fascinating to watch. People have been always curious about their lives, activities, food cycle and habitat. And when it comes to tigers in mountains or snow places, the curiosity increases.
2016 batch IFS officer of West Bengal cadre, Mr. Parveen Kaswan, has shared a post about tigers in Bhutan by Tashi Dhend, Head, Bhutan Tiger Centerin.
He wrote, “Those cats are highly adaptable. Do you know many protected areas are of India are contiguous to Bhutan. Like Phibsoo, Greater Manas, Manas, Raimona, Mahananda, Buxa, Jaldapara, Jigme Khesar etc. There is known and well documented tiger migrations from between Bhutan and India. An international tiger corridor.”
While Tashi Dhend shared a photo of Bengal Tiger roaming in a forest in Bhutan with the words, “This isn’t in Siberia! Mountain tigers, we call them in Bhutan. We are learning new things about the Royal Bengal Tigers through our long-term monitoring efforts. In Bhutan, they use high-altitude landscapes to travel from one valley to another; some even live and breed there.”
