A video going viral on social media has Indian Forest Service officers viewing it differently. In the video, a woman is seen going out of her way to help a wild gaur in some rural area, probably near a forest. She lifts the branch of a tree with a pole so that the gaur can graze underneath the tree easily, and also places a bowl of water nearby for it to drink from.
Her kindness and empathy has drawn attention of many including senior IFS officer Ramesh Pandey who wrote while sharing the video on X that the cultural ethos in Indian societies have instilled such human-wildlife co-existence for centuries now.
However, another senior IFS officer Surender Mehra, while sharing the same video on X, had a different view. He wrote that humansing wild animals leads to habitation and ultimately becomes the cause of conflict, which is not good for both.
What would be your take on this matter? Watch the video and think!
Those who talk of coexistence while discussing the human wildlife conflicts must see how the cultural ethos in Indian societies has already instilled it for centuries. pic.twitter.com/cjwtkZtANj
