Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar has said that Bihar has witnessed all-round development and that the state’s growth model is now being recognized as an example across the country. Addressing an election rally at Shivaji Chowk Ground in Ramakrishna Nagar, Phulwari Sharif, Patna district, on Saturday, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s efforts in improving law and order, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

Mr. Kumar, speaking in support of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates, said, “We did what we promised. Before 2005, Bihar was a state of fear and crime. After our government came to power, peace and stability returned. Today, people can go out late at night without fear, which was once unimaginable.”
Massive Reforms in Education and Employment Generation
Emphasizing the government’s focus on education, Mr. Kumar informed that 2,58,000 teachers have been reinstated and that the state now employs over 5,20,000 government teachers. He said that reforms in recruitment, training, and monitoring have strengthened Bihar’s public education system and increased access to quality education in rural and urban areas alike.
The Chief Minister also reiterated the government’s commitment to providing continuous employment opportunities and skill training for youth. These initiatives, he said, have helped build a competent workforce aligned with Bihar’s development goals.
Healthcare Revolution: Expansion of Major Medical Institutions
Highlighting the remarkable transformation in healthcare, Mr. Kumar stated that in 2006, his government introduced free medicines and treatment in all government hospitals, significantly improving public health access.
“At one time, Bihar had only 12 medical colleges,” he said. “Today, new medical colleges have been established in 27 districts.”
Mr. Kumar added that a new 5,000-bed hospital is being built at Patna Medical College, while Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) is being expanded by 3,000 beds, and Nalanda Medical College by 2,500 beds. These expansions, he said, would make Bihar a regional healthcare hub in eastern India.
Infrastructure Boost and Upcoming Development Projects
The Chief Minister announced that Bihar’s next budget will be historic, with allocations for major infrastructure initiatives including the establishment of the Makhana Board, construction of a new airport, expansion of the Khelo India programme, and further road connectivity projects.
These measures, Mr. Kumar said, would not only create employment but also enhance trade, tourism, and overall ease of living across the state.
Appeal for People’s Support
Prominent leaders including Bihar State Sunni Waqf Board Chairman Mr. Afzal Abbas, JDU candidate Mr. Shyam Rajak, and Mr. Ghulam Gaus were present at the rally. They urged citizens to vote responsibly on November 6, emphasizing the importance of continued stability and development under the NDA-led government.
