In a major step toward digital empowerment and improved governance, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Naya Raipur has introduced Process Mining as a new specialisation under the Chief Minister IT Fellowship (MTech in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence) programme. This initiative is being implemented jointly with the Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHiPS).
Process Mining, an emerging technology, analyzes real-world organizational processes using data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and redundancies. By streamlining operations, it significantly enhances transparency and operational efficiency. Countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Italy have already adopted this approach across both government and commercial sectors.
Global Technology Meets Local Governance
Reflecting this international trend, IIIT Naya Raipur aims to leverage Process Mining to strengthen data-driven decision-making, artificial intelligence applications, and process optimization across various state departments. By integrating advanced analytics with governance, the institute is fostering a smarter, more responsive administrative ecosystem.
Faculty Development Programme Empowers Educators and Researchers
Between October 22 and 26, IIIT Naya Raipur hosted a five-day faculty development programme on Digital Transformation with Process Mining. The event attracted faculty members and research scholars from Computer Science, Business Informatics, and Mathematics disciplines. The programme featured live demonstrations and expert talks from prominent figures, including IIIT Naya Raipur Director Professor O P Vyas, who also heads the Indo-German Process Intelligence Research Group; Dr. J C Bose, Head of Data Science at Skan AI, Bangalore; and Dr. Nachiket Tapas from Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University (CSVTU), Bhilai.
Strengthening AI-Driven Decision Making Across State Departments
Experts emphasized that Process Mining is a critical tool for governments aspiring for greater efficiency, transparency, and accountability. Professor Vyas highlighted the importance of integrating data, artificial intelligence, and process science to create a more efficient and responsive administrative framework.
With these initiatives, IIIT Naya Raipur is positioning itself as a national leader in process-oriented innovation, building a crucial bridge between academia, industry, and governance. This move is expected to accelerate digital transformation across the state, paving the way for smarter governance and innovative public service delivery.
