India is set to witness a historic celebration marking 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’, a moment that unites the entire country in pride, patriotism, and cultural reverence. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the grand event is being celebrated as a year-long national campaign that will engage citizens at every level — from villages to states.
In Chhattisgarh, the campaign will unfold in four phases, with the first phase commencing on November 7, 2025. The year-long celebration aims to rekindle national consciousness, connect the younger generation with India’s cultural roots, and promote a sense of unity and devotion to the motherland.
PM Narendra Modi to Inaugurate the Historic Event
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the 150th anniversary celebrations of ‘Vande Mataram’ on November 7, 2025, from 10 am to 11 am, in a live broadcast on Doordarshan. Following his address, citizens across India will simultaneously sing Vande Mataram, symbolizing collective harmony and national pride.
The official tune and lyrics of the song have been made available on the dedicated portal vandemataram150.in, enabling every citizen to participate in this momentous occasion.
Chhattisgarh’s Four-Phase Celebration Plan
The celebrations in Chhattisgarh will be conducted in four distinct phases to ensure broad public participation and continuous engagement throughout the year:
- First Phase: November 7–14, 2025
- Second Phase: January 19–26, 2026
- Third Phase: August 7–15, 2026 (aligned with Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan)
- Fourth Phase: November 1–7, 2026
During these phases, events will be held in districts, gram panchayats, educational institutions, government offices, and social organizations. Activities will include mass singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ and the National Anthem, uniting citizens under one patriotic spirit.
Ministers and Public Representatives to Join Local Events
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai announced that ministers, MPs, MLAs, and local representatives will participate in district-level events, ensuring inclusive public engagement. Each event will highlight local artists, students, social groups, and cultural organizations, transforming the campaign into a mass movement of unity and pride.
According to the Chief Minister, “‘Vande Mataram’ is not just a song but the living voice of India’s soul — a timeless message of national unity and self-respect that inspires every generation.”
Schools to Lead the Patriotic Charge
All schools, colleges, and educational institutions across Chhattisgarh will conduct special assemblies, essay competitions, debates, quizzes, poster-making, and cultural performances centered on the theme Vande Mataram.
Participation from NCC, NSS, Scout-Guide groups, and school bands will further amplify the patriotic fervor. The State Police Band will organize special performances of the national anthem and patriotic songs at public venues, filling the atmosphere with devotion and pride.
Innovative “Vande Mataram Audio-Video Booths”
Adding a modern and participatory dimension, the government will establish “Vande Mataram Audio-Video Booths” across Chhattisgarh under a public-private partnership model.
Through these booths, citizens can record themselves singing ‘Vande Mataram’ and upload their renditions on the vandemataram150.in portal. The portal also provides access to the original tune and lyrics, allowing individuals to express their patriotism in their own unique way.
A Living Message of National Pride
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that the 150th anniversary is not merely a commemoration but a living message of unity, self-respect, and devotion to the nation. The event, he said, will help connect Chhattisgarh’s youth with India’s glorious cultural and spiritual heritage, fostering a stronger sense of duty and national consciousness.
“‘Vande Mataram’ is not just a song; it is the eternal spirit of India that resonates in every citizen’s heart,” said the Chief Minister.
