In a monumental stride toward infrastructure modernization and sustainable development, Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel has greenlit Rs. 7,737 crore for 124 critical road projects across the state. This comprehensive initiative aims to dramatically enhance traffic efficiency, safety, and all-weather connectivity, even in remote areas, while aligning with the national PM Gati Shakti framework for logistics transformation.
High-Speed Corridors to Accelerate Economic Growth
One of the biggest highlights of this infrastructure push is the Rs. 5,576 crore Garvi Gujarat High-Speed Corridor, covering 809 kilometers. These corridors will not only reduce travel time but also bolster trade, industry, and tourism in adjoining regions by improving access to major cities and industrial zones.
As part of a strategic infrastructure plan, 12 high-speed corridors spanning 1,367 kilometers were proposed this year. With nine already approved, Gujarat is making steady progress toward realizing Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s Gati Shakti vision of integrated, efficient transport networks.
Road-by-Road Investment Breakdown
The projects include vital routes that connect key commercial and rural zones. Some of the major allocations are:
- Rs. 1,514.41 crore for 167.54 km: Dehgam-Bayad-Lunawada-Santrampur-Zalod
- Rs. 1,062.82 crore for 64.05 km: Santrod-Devgarh Baria-Chhota Udaipur
- Rs. 861.71 crore for 49.90 km: Santrampur-Morva Hadaf-Santrod
- Rs. 858.39 crore for 105.05 km: Unjha-Patan-Shihori-Deodar-Bhabhar
- Rs. 640.30 crore for 143.30 km: Ahmedabad-Harsol-Gambhoi-Vijaynagar
- Rs. 331.16 crore for 71.10 km: Karjan-Dabhoi-Bodeli
- Rs. 81.38 crore for 48.55 km: Mendarda-Keshod-Mangrol

- Rs. 158.60 crore for 67.30 km: Botad-Dhasa-Chavand-Amreli-Bagsara-Bilkha-Mendarda
These roads will enhance last-mile connectivity, ease freight movements, and provide seamless travel for daily commuters and tourists alike.
Pioneering Climate-Friendly Road Infrastructure
In line with Gujarat’s commitment to sustainable development, Rs. 1,147 crore has been allocated for 20 climate-resilient road projects covering 271 kilometers. These roads will use cutting-edge techniques such as:
- White-topping
- Plastic waste reuse
- Geo-grids and glass grids
- Fly ash and cement stabilization
- Green construction technology
These innovations aim to reduce environmental impact, increase durability, and lower life-cycle costs for road maintenance and operation.
Better Roads for Better Governance
Mr. Patel has also directed the Roads and Buildings Department to focus on safe, inclusive, and technologically advanced road connectivity. The aim is to ensure robust access to every corner of Gujarat, including remote and underserved areas.
The initiative supports the ease-of-living agenda, boosts rural development, and ensures high safety standards for all types of road users.
Logistics, Tourism, and Trade to Benefit Under PM Gati Shakti Framework
According to the state government, the Garvi Gujarat High-Speed Corridor and associated road upgrades are poised to significantly improve logistics efficiency, reduce fuel and maintenance costs, and expand trade potential across Gujarat’s growing industrial belt.
Improved road connectivity is also expected to attract tourism and boost regional economies, especially those situated along the newly upgraded corridors.
