Jharkhand Legislative Assembly marked its 25th foundation day with a grand silver jubilee celebration at the Assembly building in Ranchi. The event was attended by Governor Mr. Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren, his wife Ms. Kalpana Soren, Leader of the Opposition Mr. Babulal Marandi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Radhakrishna Kishore, senior MLA Mr. Saryu Rai, along with several ministers, MLAs, and former MLAs.

Lighting the Lamp: Ceremony Inaugurated
The celebrations began with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the Governor, Chief Minister, and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Speaker Mr. Rabindranath Mahato welcomed the dignitaries and addressed the gathering, setting the tone for the commemorative event.
CM Hemant Soren Reflects on Jharkhand’s Vision and Challenges
Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren addressed the gathering, emphasizing the original spirit behind the creation of Jharkhand. He acknowledged the state’s progress while candidly highlighting persisting challenges, including poverty, malnutrition, lack of education, backwardness, and social inequalities. Mr. Soren emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the people economically, socially, and educationally, ensuring that democracy and state laws serve the best interests of every citizen.
Honoring Legislators and Assembly Staff
A highlight of the celebration was the presentation of the “Outstanding Legislator Award 2025” to BJP MLA from Dhanbad, Mr. Raj Sinha. He was honored by Governor Mr. Gangwar, Chief Minister Mr. Soren, and Speaker Mr. Mahato with a citation, a shawl, and a memento. Additionally, six Assembly staff members—Mr. Santosh Kumar, Ms. Neelam Kujur, Mr. Rakesh Kumar Singh, Mr. Mannu Ram, Mr. Ravindra Pal, and Mr. Mohammad Shahid Haider—were recognized for their exceptional contributions.
Publications Commemorate 25 Years of Legislative History
During the event, two important publications were released: a compilation of biographies of members of the 6th Jharkhand Assembly and the book “Sadan Samvad,” which chronicles the legislative journey of the past 25 years.

Leader of the Opposition Mr. Babulal Marandi and newly-elected MLA Mr. Raj Sinha addressed the assembly, recalling the Assembly’s 25-year journey and applauding its achievements in upholding parliamentary traditions and advancing democratic governance in Jharkhand.
