Sugarcane Farmers Gain Economic Relief With Higher Prices
The Uttarakhand government has raised the SAP for early-ripening sugarcane from Rs. 375 per quintal to Rs. 405 per quintal. The SAP for regular sugarcane has also increased from Rs. 365 to Rs. 395 per quintal. This price adjustment will help hundreds of sugarcane farmers plan their cropping strategies better while ensuring fair and transparent payments. Officials have emphasized that timely payment mechanisms will be in place to guarantee farmers receive proper returns on their produce.
High-Level Sanskrit Commission to Preserve Language and Culture
At the conclusion of the two-day International Sanskrit Conference held in Haridwar, Chief Minister Mr. Dhami announced the establishment of a high-level commission dedicated to reviving and promoting Sanskrit in Uttarakhand. He stated that Sanskrit is the foundation of India’s knowledge tradition, philosophy, literature, and culture. The commission will focus on expanding Sanskrit education in schools and universities, supporting research, and reinforcing Uttarakhand’s cultural identity as Devbhoomi.
Key Implications for Farmers and the State
• Economic Empowerment: The sugarcane price hike will improve farmer income, cover costs, and strengthen agricultural sustainability.
• Promotion of Culture and Education: The Sanskrit Commission will safeguard language, literature, and traditional knowledge, while engaging younger generations in cultural learning.
• Government Commitment Across Sectors: These initiatives reflect a strategic vision that integrates agriculture, culture, education, and socio-economic growth.
Dhami Government’s Vision for Uttarakhand’s Future
Mr. Dhami’s latest initiatives demonstrate that development in Uttarakhand is extending beyond infrastructure projects to directly impact farmers, education, language preservation, and cultural enrichment. Timely and effective implementation of these policies could provide a strong foundation for long-term economic stability, social cohesion, and cultural revival in the state.
