Uttarakhand’s revolutionary Lakhpati Didi initiative, aimed at empowering rural women through self-help groups, will now gain national attention at the fifth National Conference of Chief Secretaries in Delhi next month. The conference, chaired by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, will spotlight successful state-led initiatives that enhance livelihoods and rural development.
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan to Lead National Showcase
In preparation for the event, Mr. Anand Bardhan, Uttarakhand’s Chief Secretary, has been appointed as coordinator of the Value Chain Development Thematic Mile. His role will focus on presenting Lakhpati Didi-3.0, the latest phase of the program, which aims to increase income and economic independence for rural women across the state.
Rural Development Minister Reviews Progress
Mr. Ganesh Joshi, Uttarakhand’s Rural Development Minister, reviewed the state’s preparations for the conference at his Hathibarkala camp office. Officials briefed him on the National Rural Livelihood Mission’s progress and Uttarakhand’s readiness to present its innovative women-centric programs at the national forum.
Showcasing Women-Led Rural Transformation
Uttarakhand has been entrusted with a key responsibility at the conference: demonstrating the state’s achievements in improving livelihoods through women’s self-help groups. Over 1.65 lakh women in Uttarakhand have already become Lakhpati Didis, illustrating the success and scalability of the model. Officials highlighted that the conference will offer a platform to exchange best practices and develop collaborative strategies for nationwide rural development.
Focus on Innovation and Results-Oriented Strategies
Mr. Joshi emphasized that Uttarakhand’s participation should be innovative, results-driven, and impactful. He called for ensuring that the state’s accomplishments are effectively communicated while continuing to expand Lakhpati Didi-3.0 to reach more rural women, strengthening economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods across the state.
Preparing for a National Platform
Additional Secretary Ms. Jharna Kamthan and senior officials joined the review meeting, discussing strategies for a successful national presentation. The state aims to demonstrate that empowering rural women not only transforms households but also strengthens the broader economy and community development.
