Naya Raipur: The DGP-IG Conference held at the IIM campus in Naya Raipur saw the prestigious recognition of Ghazipur Police Station, Delhi, as the Best Police Station in the country. The second place was awarded to Pehergaon Police Station in Andaman & Nicobar, while Kavitla Police Station in Raichur district, Karnataka, secured third place.
The awards were presented by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in the presence of top security officials including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, RAW Chief Parag Jain, and IB Chief Tapan Deka. The evaluation process involved more than 70 category-based parameters, including cleanliness, public interaction, crime resolution efficiency, status of pending cases, cyber safety measures, and women’s security, according to U. Balashankaran, in-charge of Ghazipur Police Station.
Conference Highlights and VIP Participation
The DGP-IG Conference, which will continue until 8 PM, brings together nearly 600 senior police officials and VIPs from across the country to discuss internal security, intelligence systems, and future strategies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also arrived in Naya Raipur for the event. During the conference, PM Modi will stay at the new Speaker House M-1, while Home Minister Amit Shah will stay at Finance Minister’s residence M-11.
For enhanced security, the airport’s Arrival Gate 3 has been closed to regular passengers for three days, while Arrival Gate 2 is operational. Additionally, entry of heavy vehicles in Naya Raipur has been restricted during the event to ensure smooth movement of VVIPs and officials.
Security Management and Coordination
Security arrangements for the conference have been entrusted to ADG Deepanshu Kabra and IG Amresh Mishra, overseeing coordination between state police, central forces, intelligence agencies, and other security entities. Various senior officers have been assigned specific responsibilities: IG Chhabra for catering, OP Pal for accommodation, and Dhruv Gupta for the control room. Security in VIP accommodations is being managed by commandants or SP-rank officers, with personnel working in three shifts. IG-rank officers are deployed at the IIM venue to maintain order and manage security.
Accommodations for Delegates
A total of 75 senior police officers, including DGPs from 33 states and 20 DG/ADG-level officers from paramilitary forces, are attending the event. Six suites and 22 rooms have been booked at the Circuit House for key officials, with additional rooms arranged at Thakur Pyarelal Institute (140 rooms) and Nimora Academy (91 rooms).
Prime Minister Modi’s Second Visit in a Month
This is Prime Minister Modi’s second visit to Chhattisgarh within a month. Earlier, he had visited on November 1 for the state’s formation day celebrations, where he inaugurated the Rajat Mahotsav, visited Satyasai Sanjeevani Hospital, and handed over keys to five PMAY beneficiaries.
