There was a time when girls were killed inside the womb or after the birth. Then, people didn’t want them to go to school or work outside. We have come a long from that situation. Now, there is no restriction on education. IPS officer Tejaswini Gautam says that if we leave out few exceptions there is hardly any family who doesn’t want their daughters to study. Not only this, they want their daughters to work and make the family proud.
This change didn’t came easy to us. Our previous generations fought for this rigoursly. Ms. Gautam believes that it’s upto us to prove our worth. “Our generation have to work 2x or 3x maybe to prove that we are as efficient as any man. If we are able to do that next generation won’t have to work double or triple and still be questioned for taking leaves or efficiency in work’, says Ms. Gautam.
Ms. Gautam who is an IPS officer of 2013 batch loved to do street plays. He father motivated her to join civil services. In this video interview with Indian Masterminds, the officer talks about her journey in cracking UPSC, her experiences and also about the importance of more women police force.
