Cyber Crime is the Biggest Challenge for Police, says A Social Media Star IPS Officer

2003-batch IPS officer Rajesh Pandey, who recently retired as IG, Bareilly Range, Uttar Pradesh, says cyber crimes emerging as the biggest challenge for police. The former police officer who busted numerous criminal gangs while in service identified banking fraud, identity theft, cyberstalking and phishing as some of the crimes that are frequently reported. He also touches on the subject of political pressure on police and how he managed to handle it.

Former Inspector General of Police, Bareilly Range, Mr. Rajesh Pandey (IPS), was known as an encounter specialist while in service and was a terror for organized criminal gangs of Uttar Pradesh. However, the retired officer now believes that it is not organized crime but cyber crime that has become a challenge for police in present times. According to him, while technology has made the work of police much easier, it is also a major concern for them. 

Mr. Pandey has given more than three decades of his life to policing and played a key role in the establishment of the Special Task Force and the Anti-Terrorist Squad in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from serving as SP, DIG and IG in different parts of the state, including Meerut and Aligarh, he also served a stint in the United Nations Peace Keeping Force. 

In this video interview, Mr. Pandey shares some of his best experiences on field. He also speaks about that changes that have been inculcated in police working style over time, and whether politics effects police work and how he managed to handle such pressures.
