MCL to Build 5 Km BT Roads in Odisha’s Angul with ₹5.35 Crore CSR Support for Better Connectivity

Angul, Odisha: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) is providing ₹5.35 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for the construction of two bituminous (BT) roads in Athmallik Notified Area Council (NAC) of Angul district, Odisha.

The project aims to improve all-weather road connectivity for local residents, making daily transportation safer, faster and more convenient. The initiative reflects MCL’s commitment to strengthening basic infrastructure and promoting inclusive development in communities around its operational areas.

Two BT Roads Covering 5 Km to Improve Local Connectivity

Under the CSR-funded project, two roads with a combined length of 5 kilometres will be constructed in Athmallik NAC.

The road projects include:

  • 3.50-km BT road from Tangianisha Chhattia Sahi towards Padmapokhari.
  • 1.50-km BT road from Baratikira towards Tangianisha.

Both roads are located in Ward No. 03 of Athmallik NAC.

The development of these roads is expected to provide smoother transportation facilities and better mobility for residents of the beneficiary areas.

MoU Signed Between MCL and Angul District Administration

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the project was signed between MCL and the Angul district administration.

The agreement was signed by:

  • Shri Jyotirmay Sinha, General Manager (CSR), MCL.
  • Shri Abdaal M. Akhtar, Collector and District Magistrate, Angul.

The partnership will facilitate the timely implementation of the road construction project.

CSR Initiative to Boost Rural Infrastructure Development

The road construction project is part of MCL’s broader CSR efforts aimed at improving community infrastructure and supporting sustainable development.

The initiative is expected to create several benefits, including:

  • Better access to essential services.
  • Safer transportation facilities.
  • Improved connectivity for local communities.
  • Enhanced mobility for residents.
  • Improved quality of life in the region.
