In a remarkable testament to dedication and intellect, Ms Aditi Majumder, a 2015 batch IAS officer from Tripura, emerged as the topper in the written examination of the prestigious 127th Induction Training Programme at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie. Her exceptional achievement was recognized at a felicitation ceremony held on June 12, 2025, in Vivekananda Hall, where the Hon’ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha awarded her the certificate for ‘Best Performer in Written Examination’.

Indian Masterminds interviewed Ms Majumder to delve into her inspiring journey, the structure of the induction training, and her overall experience at LBSNAA.

THE TRAINING PROGRAMME: BUILDING FUTURE ADMINISTRATORS

Overview of the 127th Induction Training Programme

The six-week induction training, held from May 5 to June 13, 2025, is known for its rigorous academic and practical framework. Conducted at LBSNAA, the programme is mandatory for promoted IAS officers and aims to enhance their leadership abilities, administrative knowledge, and national perspective.

A total of 97 officers from 19 states participated in this session. From Tripura alone, several distinguished officers such as Mr. Ajit Sukladas, Mr. Devananda Reang, Mr. Santosh Das, Mr. Dhanbabu Reang, Mr. Dasarath Debbarma, Mr. Mihir Kanti Gope, and Mr. Upendra Jamatia took part, reflecting the state’s increasing presence in India’s administrative machinery.

Training Structure and Curriculum

According to Ms Majumder, the training programme was scientifically and thoughtfully designed, comprising two primary components-

Classroom Sessions (4 Weeks): Covered topics such as leadership, management, administrative ethics, public-private partnerships, law, and economics. It was aimed at refreshing foundational concepts and introducing pan-India administrative practices.

Bharat Darpan Tour (2 Weeks): Officers were divided into 10 groups of 8–10 members and sent across the country to study the implementation of government schemes and policies at the ground level.

EXCELLING IN ASSESSMENT: TOPPING THE FINAL EXAM

At the conclusion of the training, officers appeared for a comprehensive written examination, which tested their understanding of the curriculum.

“The exam was based on everything we had learned throughout the programme – classroom sessions, field visits, and interactions. It was like an assessment of the entire six weeks,” shared Ms Majumder.

Her performance in this demanding evaluation earned her the top position among all participants, a rare and commendable feat. She received the ‘Best Performer in Written Examination’ award from the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, a recognition that underscores her academic excellence and administrative insight.

LEADING BY EXAMPLE: BEST PERFORMING GROUP

In addition to her individual excellence, Ms Majumder also led Group 1, which was adjudged the Best Performing Group in the Bharat Darpan tour. This team visited Bhopal, Raipur, Hyderabad, Guwahati, and finally Delhi, where they had the honour of meeting the President of India.

Upon returning to LBSNAA, the group presented their learnings to faculty and fellow officers. Their cohesive work, insightful observations, and collaborative spirit won them the top spot among all participating groups.

“It was not just about visiting places; it was about understanding real India – how policies are implemented, the challenges on the ground, and how solutions are crafted,” she reflected.

A JOURNEY OF DEDICATION: FROM AGARTALA TO LBSNAA

Educational and Professional Background

Ms Aditi Majumder hails from Agartala, Tripura. She began her career in the Tripura Civil Service in 1998, after securing a place through the Tripura Public Service Commission while still pursuing her Master’s Degree in English Literature.

“I had to take casual leave to appear for my MA final exams, even as I was starting my first job. It was a challenging time, but I knew I had to make it work,” she recalls.

Following her years of service, she was promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) with seniority of 2015. This promotion mandated her participation in the Induction Training Programme at LBSNAA.

Reflections on the Training Experience

For Ms. Majumder, the training was not just about formal learning – it was transformative: “We always worked at the state level, but this training helped us gain a pan-India perspective. The exposure to diverse cultures, administrative styles, and challenges broadened our understanding. It was an eye-opening and enriching experience,” she said.

She praised the blend of theory and field exposure, emphasizing how it has strengthened her approach to public administration.

A ROLE MODEL FOR ASPIRING OFFICERS

Ms Majumder’s achievement has become a source of inspiration for civil service aspirants across Tripura and India. Her journey – from a student balancing education and a job, to becoming a top-ranking IAS officer – is a testament to perseverance, commitment, and continuous learning.

Her success also shines a light on the caliber of promotee officers, who bring rich administrative experience to their roles, further enhanced through structured national-level training.

SYMBOL OF EXCELLENCE AND SERVICE

IAS Majumder’s story is not merely about academic success – it reflects the power of dedication, learning, and leadership. As Tripura celebrates her triumph, her journey stands as a beacon for all those who aim to serve the nation with integrity and excellence.
