Transforming Pratapgarh: The Dynamic Duo Behind Rajasthan’s Hidden Gem

Two visionary IAS officers, Inderjeet Yadav and Anjali Rajoria, transformed Pratapgarh from an overlooked district into a budding tourist destination through innovative initiatives and a captivating promotional film.
Indian Masterminds Stories

Pratapgarh, a quaint district in the southern part of Rajasthan, has long been overshadowed by its more illustrious neighbours. However, thanks to the visionary efforts of two dynamic IAS officers, Inderjeet Yadav and Dr. Anjali Rajoria, Pratapgarh is now poised to shine as a must-visit tourist destination. With its virgin landscapes, vibrant cultural heritage, and serene natural beauty, Pratapgarh offers a unique blend of adventure and tranquility that captivates travelers seeking off-the-beaten-path experiences.

A DREAM BEGINS WITH A VISION

When Inderjeet Yadav, a 2015 batch IAS officer, took charge as the district magistrate in November 2022, he was immediately struck by the district’s unexplored potential. He was in awe of the natural beauty of Pratapgarh—its colorful heritage, simple and innocent people, and untouched scenic splendor. Yet, despite its rich offerings, Pratapgarh barely featured on Rajasthan’s tourism map.

Determined to change this narrative, Yadav harnessed the district’s natural charm through a creative medium. He envisioned a promotional film that could capture Pratapgarh’s essence and attract tourists in droves. Using the district innovation fund, Yadav commissioned a short film, centering the story around a group of friends from a metro city who embark on a journey to their friend’s native place—Pratapgarh.

A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS

Just as the film was nearing completion, Yadav was transferred to the neighboring district of Banswara. Enter Dr. Anjali Rajoria, his batchmate and fellow medico, who stepped in as Pratapgarh’s new district magistrate. With a shared vision and an unwavering commitment to precision, Rajoria took up the mantle of completing Yadav’s ambitious project.

“We knew that this film had the potential to put Pratapgarh on the tourism map. It was about more than just promoting a place; it was about giving the people of Pratapgarh a reason to feel proud of their home,” said Dr. Rajoria to Indian Masterminds.

THE GRAND LAUNCH

On Republic Day, a date steeped in significance for Pratapgarh—as it marks the district’s creation—Dr. Rajoria launched the film with much fanfare. The movie was dedicated to the people of Pratapgarh, showcasing the district’s pristine beauty, cultural vibrancy, and rich history. “Nowadays, youngsters look beyond forts, palaces, and five-star hotels. They seek adventure and proximity to nature. Here, Pratapgarh fits the bill perfectly,” Rajoria remarked.

The film, replete with breathtaking visuals of rolling hills, pristine lakes, and centuries-old havelis, struck a chord with viewers. It painted a picture of a land where nature and heritage coexist in perfect harmony—a land waiting to be explored by wanderers.

CAPTURING HEARTS AND MINDS

Apart from its picturesque landscapes, Pratapgarh is home to unique cultural treasures such as Thewa jewelry, an intricate art form that dates back to the 16th century. The district also boasts historical marvels like Dhariyawad Fort and Devgarh Haveli, which echo tales of royalty and valor.

Religious sites such as the Gautameshwar Mahadev Temple and the Sita Mata Mandir further enhance Pratapgarh’s appeal, offering spiritual solace amidst natural beauty. The district’s folk dances, such as Gair Nritya, add a splash of color and rhythm to local festivals, creating a vibrant cultural tapestry that visitors can immerse themselves in.

A NEW BEGINNING FOR TOURISM

Dr. Rajoria’s efforts didn’t end with the film’s launch. She ensured that the promotional film was handed over to the tourism department for wider outreach. “We expect to get good tourist footfalls at our place,” she said confidently. By collaborating with the state’s tourism authorities, Rajoria aims to sustain the momentum and develop Pratapgarh as a key destination for eco-tourism and cultural tourism.

Beyond the promotional film, infrastructural improvements and eco-friendly initiatives are being planned to enhance the overall tourist experience. “Our goal is to make tourism a mainstay of Pratapgarh’s economy. It will not only boost local employment but also preserve the district’s heritage and environment,” Rajoria added.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Inderjeet Yadav and Dr. Anjali Rajoria, Pratapgarh is well on its way to becoming Rajasthan’s next big tourist draw. Their story is one of vision, collaboration, and an unwavering belief in the potential of a place often overlooked.

For those seeking a destination that offers more than just picturesque vistas—a destination that promises stories, experiences, and memories—Pratapgarh awaits. With its blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, it truly stands as Rajasthan’s hidden paradise, now ready to be discovered by the world.
