Indian Masterminds Stories

New Delhi: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has confirmed that it has maintained uninterrupted supply of fuel and LPG across the country, thanks to its resilient supply chain and proactive monitoring, even as some regions experienced temporary spikes in demand.

Strong Fuel Consumption and Timely Distribution

Between April 1 and April 6, 2026, HPCL reported robust consumption trends:

  • Petrol sales: 2,27,086 kilolitres (KL)
  • Diesel sales: 4,05,398 KL

To meet rising demand, the company dispatched over 40,000 tankers carrying petrol, diesel, and PDS SKO, ensuring that retail outlets across India were consistently replenished.

LPG Deliveries and Last-Mile Connectivity

In the LPG segment, HPCL delivered over 75 lakh cylinders, including additional supplies of Free Trade LPG cylinders. This initiative strengthened last-mile connectivity, particularly benefiting migrant workers and economically weaker sections.

The company reported high digital adoption, with 94.5% of LPG bookings made through platforms such as IVRS, SMS, WhatsApp, and HP PAY. Delivery authentication is ensured via OTP-based verification, improving both transparency and customer safety.

Measures to Ensure Compliance and Prevent Malpractices

HPCL has intensified monitoring to curb malpractices in fuel and LPG distribution:

  • Conducted over 4,300 inspections
  • Initiated action against erring distributors
  • Undertook joint enforcement drives with other agencies resulting in raids, FIRs, and seizure of LPG cylinders

These steps reinforce HPCL’s commitment to safe, reliable, and equitable fuel and LPG distribution.

Advice to Customers

While certain regions saw temporary demand spikes, HPCL assures steady supply across the country and urges customers not to engage in panic stocking, noting that localized pressure is short-term and manageable.
