Failures never deterred Bindiya Bishnoi and made her focus waver for even a second from her chosen path. Once she made up her mind to take up a government job, she did not shy away from working in any field, even if it is a male dominated one. She is currently working as a Patwari in Chittorgarh. She had also cracked the Sub-Inspector exam.

It is this resilience, self-confidence and persistence in the pursuit of her dreams that have helped her to succeed in three exams for government jobs. Her journey illustrates that with determination and will power, no dream is unachievable.

Speaking with Indian Masterminds, the topper narrated her inspiring journey.

Bindiya Bishnoi: Inspirational Story

JOURNEY SO FAR

“First trust in yourself, and then learn from successful people. Regularity and continuous efforts are the keys to success. Whatever you want to do, do it with full heart and regularity,” the RAS topper said.

She started her preparation in 2017, while doing her MA. She gave her first RAS attempt in 2018, but the rank 1037 she got was not up to her expectation. So, she gave another attempt in 2021,cracked the exam with 40th rank which will help her get the SDM post.

In 2022, she had cracked Rajasthan Patwari exam and had joined her post. After this, she also cracked Rajasthan Sub-Inspector exam the same year but did not join as she wanted to make another attempt at her dream job – that of a deputy collector. So, she continued as Patwari and focused on RAS exam, and finally got a rank she had hoped for.

BACKGROUND

She is from Bikaner, and her father is a retired ASI from SSB, while her mother is a homemaker. She has a younger brother. She completed her basic education from her home town. Her father has been her biggest inspiration in life.

She completed her graduation (B.Sc.) in 2016 from Sri Ganganagar. After this, she completed MA in 2018. In 2017, she joined Bhatia Ashram coaching and started preparation for civil services exam.

RAS PREPARATION

The most important thing about Bindiya’s RAS preparation and strategy was her continuity. She continued her preparation from 2017 to 2022 and studied regularly for 6 to 7 hours. In exam time, she increases those hours to 10-12.

She practiced answer writing in her second attempt, a lot. She gave many test series and mock tests.

She made short notes for timely revisions. She started her preparation with basic NCERTs and other standard books. After she joined Bhatia Ashram coaching, she got guidance for structured studies.

She said, “I had some shortcomings in the RAS attempt of 2018. I could not do well in answer writing in Mains. My answers probably weren’t that good. So, I changed my strategy in the second attempt. I read the copies of many toppers to see how they wrote answers and how they improved their answers.”

She suggested that aspirants should go through the syllabus and learn properly what to read and how. “One should make small goals for every topic and finished it timely,” she added.

INTERVIEW

Her interview was good and she got 70 marks out of 100. As she was a working woman, she was asked about her job profile. She was asked about the types of Jarib (chain) used by Patwari for measurement.

To which, she replied, “There are many like Shahjahani Jarib, Metric Jarib, Gantri Jarib etc.”

Apart from this, she was asked questions from Rajasthan’s history and current issues and affairs, like the AFSPA Act in Jammu and Kashmir. She was also asked questions about Rajasthan’s minerals and its origins in the state.

MESSAGE FOR ASPIRANTS

Giving suggestion for all aspirants, she said that one should never get demotivated even if they don’t get what they want. “Try harder and scale up your hard work. Everyone has their own capacity and capability. Some may take less time, some may take more. Take your defeat as a motivation that you are going to win next time. Harness your skill, work on your weaknesses, and get the success you deserve.”

She added that it was her continuity and regularity in studies that got her success in all the exams.

FUTURE AIM

On her aim now, she said that she will focus on girl education. “I will ask all parents to never stop their girl child from studying. Let them study as much as she wants,” she said, adding that right now, she is enjoying her RAS success and has no plan for UPSC CSE preparation.
