Rowdies In Karnataka Cower Due To This IPS Officer From Bihar

Rowdies get petrified in front of this IPS officer. They are so fearful of him that they pray for his transfer elsewhere. He is Additonal DGP (Law & Order), Bengaluru, Mr. Alok Kumar. His reputation is such that a blockbuster film could be made on him.

The 1994-batch officer was the youngest police commissioner of a metropolitan city (Bengaluru). He has served on many positions from SPs of many district to IG of Gulbarga and Belgaum range, Anti-naxal range, Joint CP Crime among others. In his every posting, he is known to round up the rowdy elements. 

In a conversation with Indian Masterminds, he said, “There are around 47000 rowdy-sheeters in Karnataka. We need to keep them in check to control all types of crimes. From time to time names of the inactive criminals are removed from the sheets. This help to remain focused on the active ones.”

BIHAR TO KARNATAKA 

The officer who hails from Bihar completed his education from Netarhat School (Jharkhand). He was also the state topper of in secondary exam for class 10th in 1985. After clearing UPSC CSE in 1994, he came to Karnataka in 1996. It is difficult to figure out that he is not from Karnataka as he speaks  Kannada fluent and has imbibed the state’s culture too.  “Although, there is no such compulsion here to know Kannada but it is required if you need to connect. Adapting other’s culture & language is very important if you want to gain their trust.”

FACING ENQUIRIES 

During his career spanning more than 25 years, the officer has also faced scrutiny from other organizations. However, he came clean from all those investigations. When asked about how such situations affect an officer like him, he said, “You’ll have your enemies when you are running against the current. It is part of our life. All you can do is try to face the situation with strength and focus on what matters. Everything else will take its own course.”
