Indian Masterminds Stories

Today, on 15 August, India completes its 75 years of Independence. The celebrations this year are being carried out under the banner of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, and people are also observing this significant day by hoisting the Indian flag at their respective homes. The campaign ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’, taken up by the Union Culture Ministry, aimed to have 20 crore households in the country hoist a national flag between August 13 and August 15 and also asked individuals to share photos with the flag.

After the Covid 19 pandemic, the caller tunes of mobile phones were changed with a greeting to share a selfie with the Indian flag on Har Ghar Tiranga’s official website. This was done by the government to encourage the hoisting of the Tricolour.

PM Modi, on the occasion, addressed the nation for the ninth time from the ramparts of the Red Fort. Wearing a traditional tricoloured motif safa (headgear) with a long trail, the PM then recalled the “architects of free India” who significantly contributed to India’s freedom struggle.

“During our freedom struggle, there was not one year when our freedom fighters did not face brutality and cruelty. Today is the day when, as we pay them our respects, we need to remember their vision and dream for India,” he said.

PM Modi thanked freedom fighters like Gandhiji, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Ramprasad Bismil, Rani Laxmibai, Subhas Chandra Bose, great thinkers like Vivekanand, Aurobindo and Rabindranath Tagore, Adivasi freedom fighters such as Birsa Munda, Tirot Singh and Alluri Sitarama Raju and several others who played a pivotal role in keeping the freedom struggle alive in every corner of India.
