It is never easy for any individual to cope with the loss of his or her loved one, but people choose various measures to deal with that loss. Here is an IPS officer who has chosen ‘Kindness for Others’ as a way to pay homage to his wife, who lost her life in the fight against cancer.
Mr. Jitendra Mani Tripathi, who is an IPS officer of the 2008 batch and AGMUT cadre, lost his wife due to breast cancer. It was a difficult time for him, as his kids were very young and he had to take care of them while dealing with his own grief.
He stood strong in those testing times and decided to cherish his wife’s memories through poetry. Mr. Tripathi has written two poetry books titled ‘Mani Ki Kiran’ and ‘Kahin To Hansi Hogi’. Through the poems, he has been able to keep her memories alive. He donates all the income from the book’s sale to charity. Not only this, but he also helps people in similar situations. He has circulated his contact number through all the social media platforms, including WhatsApp and Twitter. Any person who needs advice from doctors or hospitals can contact him. Not only this, but Mr. Tripathi also helps them get appointments and beds in hospitals. In an emergency, and at times, he himself accompanies them. Apart from that, he and both of his children organize stalls and serve food to patients outside various hospitals regularly.
In this exclusive video conversation with Indian Masterminds, he describes his UPSC journey, various postings, his wife, and how he is taking care of his children after her.
