CBI Officials Must Now Work from Designated Zones, Not Just Delhi HQ

Indian Masterminds Stories

CBI Director Praveen Sood is learnt to have told all heads of branch and zones (who are IG or DIG rank IPS officials) to operate out of their respective jurisdictions. In the last couple of years, a practise had gained a foothold in the CBI where top officials despite being posted to zonal headquarters continued to remained seated in Delhi by having an additional change in the agency headquarters in the national capital.

But now Sood has told brass that if someone is posted – for example in Imphal, he or she will have to go there, even if the officer concerned has some additional charge in Delhi. Slowly but surely the director is sending out all the top officials to their areas of operation. It’s very clear that an appointment in the CBI appointment no longer means a Delhi appointment.
